Below I have compiled the best information about scott rods that I could find - general information about the company who make Scott Rods, some videos, specific Scott Rods details and some scott fly rod reviews.
About Scott
The Scott fly rod Company are based in Montrose Colorado and have been hand crafting fishing rods for nearly forty years. They strive for perfection in their design and craftsmanship which results in the development and production of high end top performing fly rods.
They say that they have a 'certain way of doing things' - this way they refer to affectionately as 'The Scott Difference'. Driven by a love for the sport of fly fishing they strive to produce the ultimate in fishing tools and handcraft every rod that they make. Scott Rods are fishing rods made by fishermen for fishermen.
Scott produce a wide range of both fiberglass and graphite fly rods which cover nearly every fly fishing situation that you may encounter. The main design features which are their unique flex rating process, their perfected internal ferrule and their advanced tapers and materials lay-up result in very high performing fishing rods that are well known all over the world. To read a little more about these design features click this link.

I have added a couple of videos here about The Scott Fly rod Company which you may find interesting. The first one does not have much in the way of useful information but does have a few snippets of history and a brief look inside the factory which I found interesting.
The second video that I've added here gives some brief information about the F2 fly rod in particular and then goes on to show some of the actual handcrafting processes involved in the production of scott rods - very interesting.
Warranty on Scott Rods
This is something that will ease your conscience somewhat when parting with your money for a Scott flyrod. The Scott Fly Rod Company offer an unconditional lifetime warranty on their fly rods. They say that they build rods "to last a lifetime" and they certainly back this up with their warranty which is something that is rare these days. Click here to read what they say about their repair policy and warranty.
A point well noting about the Scott warranty is that it only covers the original purchaser of the fly rod and that the warranty must be registered within thirty days of purchase. This is important if you are considering purchasing an unused second hand rod.
For example an angler may have bought a Scott rod or received one as a gift and for whatever reason not used the rod and decided to sell it. The unused rod will not have been 'tried and tested' and in the very unlikely event of there being a manufacturing defect will not be covered by the warranty for the eventual buyer. So if buying a second hand Scott rod (or any rod for that matter) which has received little or no use be sure to inspect it thoroughly and if possible have a few casts with it before parting with your cash.
If you are shopping for a Scott fly rod it wont take you very long to find out that not every fly fishing outfitter or tackle store stock them. The reason for this is that the Scott Fly Rod Company only partner with a select few specialty fly fishing retailers. If you live close to one of these then great, you can easily head over to their store view the rod you are after and probably get to trial cast it. If you do not live near one of these specialty fly fishing retailers you will either have to travel some distance to visit one or shop for your Scott Fly Fishing rod online.
Shopping online for a Scott Rod is no problem at all as nearly all of the specialty fly fishing outfitters that Scott partner with have an online store. Now here's something useful that I have discovered - most of these fly fishing outfitters that sell Scott Rods online not only sell the rods through their own online store but also advertise and sell their products via the online retail giant Amazon.com. The good thing about this is that you can easily compare the prices of Scott Rods from all the different retailers in the one place.
Also if you choose to eventually purchase your Scott Rod at Amazon.com you will be buying from one of the best established and most trustworthy online retailers. You wont find every Scott Rod across all their ranges at Amazon but most of them are there and well worth a look for comparing prices. I've provided a link below this paragraph to a page on Amazon which has most of the Scott Fly Rod ranges on it. Where appropriate I have also provided links further down the page to specific Scott Rods at Amazon.com.
This I hope will save you a lot of time with your own research or search for information about Scott fly rods. The reviews that I have linked to come from a broad cross-section of the internet - fishing tackle suppliers, fishing forums, fishing blogs, YouTube and other fishing information websites.

This next review is by a fly fishing guide who uses the G2 and S4 series by Scott. Each series is reviewed individually and several useful comparisons are made between the two.
A third review here is by a fisherman who has been using the G2 8'8" #4 and #5. He makes some comparisons to other similar rods on the market and explains why he feels the G2 is different.
Finally here's a video review of the Scott G2 Series fly rods.
Scott S4 Fly Rod
S4 Fly Rod Description
The S4 fly rods are generally described as fast action high line speed fly rods. They are a versatile fishing tool capable of handling a wide range of fly sizes. Though having lots of line speed and power they are balanced with enough sensitivity to fish light tippets with small flies.
Components of this rod include buckeye burl wood and titanium guides along with useful features such as measuring wraps and alignment dots.
In this first review is a fisherman's personal account of his experience of fishing with an S4 905-4 - he describes the look, feel and performance quite well.
The second review of the S4 series is not a review as such but rather a short forum discussion about the S4 906-4. A few anglers give their opinion and also compare it to similar rods from other manufacturers.
This next review is by an Australian fisherman who has been using an S4 9-ft 6wt. He describes quite well how the rod performs casting different distances.
Here's another discussion about Scott S4 fly rods where the rod is compared to other manufacturers. One or two people here are not fans of the S4!
Scott S4S Fly Rod
S4S Fly Rod Description
The S4S graphite fly rods are designed to perform well in harsh salt water environments. If you are looking for a light rod capable of delivering high line speeds and tough enough to turn strong hard fighting fish quickly and easily then this is the rod for you.

S4S Fly Rod Reviews
This thorough review of the S4S 908/4 gives good information on the weight and balance, casting characteristics and fish fighting abilities of the rod. The reviewer also outlines one or two things about the rod that he is not entirely happy with!
This video review of the S4s by Front Range Angling is more information than review but the reviewer makes a few points about the rod worth noting.
This next review is by an angler who has been using a 9ft two piece 9wt for redfish snook and bonefish.
Here's a fourth review of the Scott S4S saltwater fly rods - 7wt and 10wt.
Scott F2 Fly Rod
F2 Fly Rod Description
The F2 series fiberglass fly rods are Scott's shortest and lightest small stream rod. These rods are designed for making accurate casts with just a few feet of line out along with the leader. Even the pull of a small fish will load these rods nicely putting lots of fun into your fishing.
The construction of these rods feature the new unidirectional S2 glass weave combined with a high performance epoxy resin. This new technology makes for a glass rod which is far lighter than traditional glass rod building techniques allow.
F2 Fly Rod Reviews
The first review here of the F2 fly rod is a video review by Harry Murray of Murray's Fly Shop in Virginia. The review is more a description of the rod than a users account of it but the video is very short and you do get a good look at the F2 rod itself.
This second review of the F2 fly rod is also a video review. One of Scott's rod designers gives a brief description of the technology used in the making of this rod and you also get to see the rod in action on a small stream.
In this review it is suggested that the Scott F2 fly rod might even be better than sex! Seriously though the author of the review has cast a seven foot three weight F2 rod and shares his thoughts.
This next review is in the form of a forum discussion where a few fly fishermen who actually own different rods in the F2 series give their impressions of the rod and compare it to other rods.
Scott SC Bamboo Fly Rod
SC Bamboo Rod Description
These beautiful rods are perfect for small stream and small river fishing. They are very different to the split cane rods of old being light in the hand and allowing for lovely crisp casts. The extremely high standards of rod building combined with the use of only the best materials has created an award winning bamboo fly rod which delivers a superior fly fishing experience.
Some of the high specification features of this rod include, Hariki silver nickel ferrules which are hand made, highest grade cork handles, hand made Snake Brand guides which are wrapped in silk and an exceptional full dip varnish finish.
SC Bamboo Fly Rod Reviews
The first review here is more of a description of the SC rod than an actual review. The video itself is rather promotional but the reviewer does make a few good points about the rod, gives you a very good look at it and also recommends a good reel to match the SC bamboo fly rod.
These next two reviews are very short and simply give the brief opinion of an angler who has lawn cast the SC bamboo fly rods.
Scott A4 Fly Rod
A4 Fly Rod Description
The A4 series of fly rods from Scott are the most affordable range of fishing rods that Scott produce. The rods themselves can be described as high line speed rods which cast smoothly, recover quickly, are light in the hand and transmit feel to your casting hand very nicely.

Their features include multi modulus lay-up blanks, Scott's low mass sleeve ferrules, Super grade cork handles, TiCh coated reel seats which have self aligning slide hoods and TiCh stripping guides with SiC inserts.

In this review the reviewer compares the Scott A4 series of fly rods to their previous A3 series which the A4's replace. He also discusses what kind of angler these rods might be most suited to.
This next link is more of a description of the A4's than a review as such and the video here allows you to get a good look at the rod.
In the second post on this forum thread the angler gives a good review of how the A4 rod casts and makes some useful comparisons to other fly rods.
Scott M Series Fly Rod
M Series Fly Rod Description
With the M series of graphite fly rods Scott wanted to produce a set of fly rods that could possibly be their best rods ever. Rather than design an entirely new series of rods what they have done is taken the best features from their other high end fly rods and combined them to produce one outstanding set of fly rods - the M series. The Scott M Fly Rods combine their best materials, their best workmanship and their best finishing - the result of which is an heirloom quality fly rod.
The components of the M series are of the highest quality. M Series Fly Rod Reviews
As the M series rods have only recently been launched there is not a whole lot in the way of reviews on the internet just yet. In this video below Jim Bartschi the president rod designer at Scott introduces the M series rod and gives a brief description of its main features.
This next link is to the product page of Leland Fly Fishing Outfitters where they describe the M series fly rods in detail giving brief descriptions of each individual rod in the series also.

Scott T2H Fly Rod
T2H Fly Rod Description
Yet again Scott have put their advanced rod building techniques and technology into this series of rods, the outcome of which is a spey rod which is far lighter in the hand than one might expect for a rod of this type. Their blank construction technology has produced a rod which resists undesirable torque which can cause unsatisfactory loops during casting and hence reduced distance. These two handed fly fishing rods are hand made using the finest components available and are beautifully finished to a very high standard.
The first review is by a fisherman who fishes the Colorado rivers using the T2H 1085 Switch Rod in particular. He also recommends some lines and flies.
The next review is in the form of a forum discussion where a few guys who own and have cast different T2H rods give their opinions.
This third review is a fairly comprehensive review of the T2H 12510/4 rod. The reviewer uses the rod exclusively for king salmon fishing.

In Conclusion
Right across the board in all of Scott's ranges of fly rods it is nearly impossible to find anyone who has anything even close to negative to say about their fly rods. The few negatives that I have encountered are generally a result of a personal preference of an individual rather than an issue with the quality of the rod itself. It would seem that anyone who owns a Scott fishing rod is more than happy with it with many anglers owning several Scott rods. My opinion - Scott are a top class company who produce top class fly rods. Have I bought one yet? No, but I have picked out the three that I will be buying as soon as my finances allow - reviews of which I will add to this site in due course.I hope that you found the information on this site useful and that it helped you in doing your research on the Scott rods that you are interested in.
